What if I tell you that USA Air Force filmed a UFO landing at Holloman AFB and the meeting with its UFO occupants? The meeting may have inspired Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Audacious as it sounds, it may have happened, not how researchers believe, but evidence shows that the USA holds at least one film of the event.
1971 UFO landing at Holloman AFB
During a routine photographic mission on May 1971 at Holloman Air Force Base, a technical sergeant and a base photographic team member were aboard a helicopter and made several video recordings of three objects.
One of the objects pulls away and begins to descend.
A second high-speed camera crew on the ground shoots at a distance of approximately 180 meters.
The cameras continue to rotate as the extraordinary vehicle comes into view.
It hovers silently about 3 feet above the ground for nearly a minute. It spins like an anchored ship before landing on three shoes attached to rods.
A commander, two officers, and two Air Force scientists arrive and wait apprehensively. A panel slides open on the side of the ship. It advances one, then two, and a third extraterrestrial who appear to be men with tight overalls.
Perhaps short by the high standards of the beings, with a strange grayish blue complexion, distant eyes, and large, prominent nose.
They wore a piece on their head that resembled a rope in design.
The commander and the two scientists advance to greet the visitors.
A communication apparatus make arrangements, and the group quickly retreats to an internal office in the base area.
Left behind, a stunned group of military men remains.
The Alien Descriptions
Witnesses describe the UFO occupants. In the book’s last section, “UFOs: Past Present and Future,” (we will talk more about it below).
They were human size, they had odd grey completion and pronounce noses, tight-fitting jumpsuits, and fin hair dresses that appeared to be communication devices, and in their hands, they held a translator.
This description differs from the well-known details of the Alien Greys that became popular after the 1985 book Communion by Whitley Strieber.
Strieber recounts his close encounter experiences and alien abductions by grayish-blue skin, large black almond-shaped eyes, thin-lipped mouth, and small, thin noses with two nostrils.
But the description oddly resembles another famous UFO case, the 1961 Barney and Betty Hill incident.
According to Betty’s hypnosis sessions, the beings were around 5 to 5.4 feet tall and had grayish-blue skin. They had large, wraparound eyes that were slanted and black, with no whites visible.
Betty Hill did describe the aliens as having more prominent and longer noses than typical human noses, “like Jimmy Durant.”
The lips had a blueish color. Their hair and eyes were dark, possibly black. They were very human in appearance and friendly, with no halts and no waste of time.
Betty Hill’s description was published only a few years before the event.
Witnesses of the Holloman’s UFO landing video
In 1969 the U.S. ended the Air Force’s Blue Book project. After the shutdown, the government said there was no evidence of UFOs or document retention and no implications for national security.
However, in 1973, the military approached Bob Emenegger and Allan Sandler, two producers in Los Angeles, to make a documentary about UFOs.
They had already produced eight documentaries about defense and wanted them to make one more about the UFO phenomenon.
Bob Emenegger was skeptical of UFOs and asked if this was real.
At that point, security manager Paul Shardle at Norton Air Force Base said:
“What would you say if I told you that an alien craft landed at Holloman Air Force Base at six in the morning in May 1971 and we shot that from three different points — two on the ground and one on the helicopter — and we’ll allow you to use the film for your documentary?”
Bob Emenegger was not yet interested in extraterrestrials. He said these people were all crazy.
But the military assured that there would be no cover-up.
He could go wherever he wanted.
Bob Emenegger said that he entered the Pentagon without signing any confidential documents and spoke to all the Blue Book bosses besides Art Lundahl, the CIA’s leading name at the time for things related to UFOs.
At the end of the documentary “UFOs: Past, Present, and Future,” funded by the MacArthur
Foundation, with U$250, was released without 2300 feet of footage.
The permission was withdrawn, and the Pentagon said they couldn’t use the film because of Watergate.
Also, to describe the Holloman’s UFO landing as something hypothetical.
The military excuse was that this would be “a bad time,” and they took down the video.
8 seconds of the video in Holloman included in a documentary
When the documentary and book were released, Bob Emenegger confirmed that there were eight seconds left on one of the said three cameras that would have recorded the events at Holloman Air Force Base on it.
“UFOs: Past Present and Future” was released in 1974.
The film doesn’t show much: just a background, where you can see the Holloman hills and a reasonably bright object at six in the morning, descending over the hills.
But it is an enormous distance, and nothing has a definition.
The classified part of the film, where the extraterrestrials leave the ship, would have been removed.
They wanted people to know that Holloman happened and allowed the use of the eight seconds, but the rest of the rated film was censored. At least, that’s how the story was passed on.

Another Witnessed for the Holloman’s UFO landing video.
During an interview, Jacques Vallée, a renowned UFO researcher and French computer scientist, spoke about the alleged Holloman Air Base landing episode.
He said the video was shown to him by a U.S. Air Force officer and showed three flying saucers landing at the base.
Vallée also mentioned that the video was shot in 16mm and was about 12 minutes long.
Vallée claimed that the Air Force officer told him that the event occurred in May 1971 and that the extraterrestrials aboard the flying saucers communicated with the military using a telepathic device.
However, Vallée cannot confirm the authenticity of the video or the information provided by the Air Force officer.
The Real UFO landing, please step forward
We researched at least three possible landings with films made of two of them.
- 1954 Holloman Air Force Base originated the Greada Treaty, where President Eisenhower formed a treaty with aliens.
- 1957 Edwards Air Force Base, when a camera crew was filming a UFO landing. After that, Gordon Cooper sent the recordings to Washington.
- 1971, at Holloman Air Force Base, three camera crews recorded multiple UFOs and a meeting with three UFO occupants.
All these possible landings are based and good witnesses and evidence.
But could it be all pieces of disinformation?
