Usually we do not review Paranormal Reality Shows, but our 5 readers requested, so we decided to give it a try and “Bro…”, Destination America released some different kind of Paranormal Shows in 2016 Ghost Brothers, Paranormal Lockdown and Ghost of Shepherdstown.
On Ghost Brothers, three best friends raised in religious households, Dalen Spratt, Juwan Mass and Marcus Harvey were taught that “messing” with the dead is dangerous business, but some unexplained experiences of their own piqued their intense fascination, ultimately driving them to find out first hand just how spooky the supernatural can be.
Yes, we know that sounds like something you heard before this is because it is produced by Pilgrim Media Group, the same one that brought to us the Ghost Hunters.
But this one has a little twist TV’s first African-American paranormal investigation team, with a great sense of humor and a southern style.
At Strange Strange Strange we evaluate Paranormal Reality Shows judging by 10 criterias: Locations; Local Research; Equipment; Investigation Technique; Evidence Quality; Debunk Factor; Entertainment; Team; Show Production; Spooky Factor.
The first season has only 6 episodes, the locations stand out, even if you saw it in other shows, they bring another perspective to the table.
They start investigating the Magnolia Plantation in Derry, Louisiana, next is the Allen House on Monticello, Arkansas, to Prospect Place, in Trinway, Ohio, go to the water in a riverboat of the early 1900s, the Delta Queen in Chattanooga, Tennessee, The Magnolia Hotel in Seguin, Texas and to finish the season, the Ghost Brothers head to Washington, Georgia to try to solve the mysterious hauntings of The Fitzpatrick Hotel.
Carrying most of the time with simple gadgets as phones with different apps, digital cameras and flashlights, before “pop the trunk” and go “straight ghosting”, the Ghost Brothers interview property owners and eyewitness.
The two, fashion designer and barber/comedian are not professional ghostbusters and I believe it is what makes the show work, the chemistry among the members is great and the comedy factor goes beyond what is seen before.
They unfortunately do not have solid evidence. They make presumptions of the findings, the readings from equipment and personal feelings, but only in a few cases try to debunk it.
At least it appears pos-production, and that is the only bad side from the show, Pilgrim Media, trying to sell the idea that they are alone while have a large crew following them.
Take it in consideration and go watch and enjoy definitely the best Paranormal Reality Shows, because the Destination America renews the series for at least one more season and also has been picked up by TLC channel.
“We’re excited to join the Destination America family and prove that there can be a little humor in the unknown,” said Dalen Spratt. “But the best part about Ghost Brothers is that THIS time, the black guys make it out of the haunted house alive!”
Thank you Dalen, Juwan and Marcus for bringing a fresh air and sense of humor to Paranormal TV and keep straight ghosting.
