Do you remember “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”, a man who ages in reverse? The movie from 2008 starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett and directed by David Fincher.
This week on Sunday afternoon in Bangladesh’s Magura district Parul Patro, wife of Biswajit Patro, a poor farmer in Bhulbaria village, gave birth to his second baby.
“Our first child, Aparna, has taken after her mother. But my boy looks like me, and I am happy,”
The apparently healthy baby boy born with wrinkles face, dark hair, hollow eyes and a shrunken body resembling a 70-80-year-old’s.
How science explain the real Benjamin Button
According to doctors, the baby suffers from a rare medical condition called Progeria.
Also, know as Hutchinson–Gilford progeria syndrome or HGPS in which symptoms resembling aspects of aging are manifested at a very early age.
Most Progeria patients die at very young age.
At the hospital, doctor confirmed that, both Parul Patro and her newborn are doing well.
“I am not unhappy, nor do I feel any sorrow that my son is different,” says the proudly father Biswajit and continues “Our first child, Aparna, has taken after her mother. But my boy looks like me, and I am happy.”
On February, 2016, another case of Progeria in a village not far from Mr. Biswajit home.
The 4-year-old boy Bayezid diagnosed by local doctors and sent to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for further treatment.
