The ‘Taos Hum’ is a low-pitched sound heard in numerous places worldwide, especially in the USA, UK, and northern europe. It is usually heard only in quiet environments, and is often described as sounding like a distant diesel engine.
Since it has proven undetectable by microphones or VLF antennae, its source and nature is still a mystery.
In 1991, in Taos (ancient city of Mexico which now belongs to the United States, the phenomenon was exposed to the world. The press at the time dubbed the sound of Taos Hum (hum in Taos).
The sound often uncomfortable and led the University of New Mexico to conduct a search for frustrated trying to find the source of the Taos Hum Moreover, only 2% of the population of the city was affected by tinnitus, they then were tested in these hearing people, but they not present any problem.
The Hum is described as the most often as a distant sound like a diesel engine and slow. Possible theories:
